And this time I had a great day at work.
This morning I went to the pool. It was so relaxing. It was just me out there for 2 hours. Then Tawanna came over and relaxed (aka straightened) my hair, so it's not a funky half curly nappy mess anymore. Then I went to work.
I've stayed busy all day. First thing as I'm pulling out of the station, I get a parking complaint on some bulldozers pulling out in to traffic. I handled that HBO (handled by officer). I then got dispatched to a motorist assist on the highway, which turned out to be a commercial vehicle crash (oh FTO was just excited as hell about that). Commercial vehicles are really hard to do, they require so much more work. And this one was only my second commercial vehicle crash (unless you count the crash I was involved in a couple days ago. the vehicle that hit me had been a commercial vehicle. But since I didn't work that crash that doesn't count....Karma maybe?). Anyway, I was able to get all the necessary information for that. Then I get dispatched out to a shopping center where a rape victim saw her rapist who had yet to be arrested. We didn't catch him, but it was a good learning experience. :) Then, as I'm working on my report, a neighboring jurisdiction called for our help because they had initiated a foot pursuit that was on the border of our city. So I got to help out with that. They ended up catchin the guy and I got to help our K-9 Unit do a search of the area for drugs. Fun stuff.
The only crappy thing about today was it was in the 90's and VERY humid. I spent most of my time today outside, so I was sweatin like a pig out there. It was already bad outside of uniform, but with the uniform and everything that comes with it.... it was miserable. What we wear is 2 shirts (the undershirt and uniform shirt), a vest (that weighs a couple pounds), a 30 pound belt, long pants, socks and boots, plus all the crap we carry in our pockets (which for me include 2 pockets on the shirt that I have stuff in, and two side pockets that I carry a load of crap in on my pants). And did I mention our entire uniform is a dark blue *almost black* color? Dark colors attract the sun...So we're pretty much covered from our necks down, with the exception of our arms. I have not sweat this much in my uniform since working here. AND I had to redo my makeup twice because I was sweating so much it started to smear *yeah yeah I'm girly*. That tells you how hot it was today...
And that was it. It's been busy and I love it when it's busy. I get so bored when there's nothin goin on. My FTO noticed how happy I was today, which made him happy. We had a good time today. He has laughed (at and with me) more today than any other day we've rode together. I only have 2 days left with him. I've learned so much from him. Although he's known to be the hardest FTO in our department, I'm really glad I had him.
