Today is my Saturday. Tonight I'm going to Lawrence to the old mansion to do some paranormal stuff. I got invited by one of my coworkers who's hosting it. Basically it's like ghost hunting. Apparently the governor's wife killed herself in that building and there's ghosts. I've always heard about these sorts of things (like on TV) but I've never actually gone to one. So this will be interesting :).
Today I went to the station to re-organize my duty bag. Basically restocking all my paperwork and getting it all sorted out. I also thought I might see my Lieutenant to get permission to do the courtesy officer thing. Well, he was there in his office when I arrived and I sat down and spoke with him. He told me that he has to approve it with the Chief, but as for now it's a tentative yes. (!!!) He also said that while I'm on the midnight shift (starting in October), when it starts to get slow, he said I could go home to get dinner and sit in my car for a bit in the parking lot in my black and white (cruising the complex is part of the courtesy officer duties, just not necessarily in uniform). I was surprised, since the complex is not in our jurisdiction. He said it's no big deal during Mids and the sergeant on duty (Who, by the way, is my favorite sergeant) shouldn't have an issue with it. My Lieutenant also congratulated me on my completion of FTO (I'm officially done on Wednesday) and said that I've done an amazing job, that I've improved so much. That made me feel good. That's definitely the confidence boost I need for when I go out on my own on Thursday. Honestly, I'm nervous as hell. Because this is it. It's all on me and nobody will be sitting next to be to be like 'Uh, yeah, what are you doing?'. So, I hope I can do this right and that I have the resources to do it right. My Lieutenant is the one who changed me from going to days to going to evenings. Evenings is busier and the sergeant on evenings is a lot harder. However, he'll teach me a lot. I've had 3 of the hardest FTOs in the entire department. P2, P3(#1, I had two FTOs for Phase 3), and P4 are all known as the hardest FTOs, and it was a shocker I got all 3 (a shocker even to the supervisors). My Lieutenant was most worried about P4, because he is the hardest FTO (P4 will become the supervisor of all FTOs as soon as I'm finished). So the Lieutenant especially congratulated me on passing with P4. Hopefully, their hard training has prepared me enough. *crosses fingers* I feel ready to do it. The only thing I'm nervous about is geography. It's hard learning a city. I've got it for the most part, it's just building that confidence.
Tomorrow I'm going out to a late lunch and to Worlds of Fun with my friend for her birthday. I'm excited for that. I've only been to Worlds of Fun once this summer and it was kind of a drag since I was there for only a couple hours (I had to work quite early in the morning the next day and had to leave). This weekend should be great and refreshing for my last 3 shifts of FTO :)

PS to JOJO- P5 wanted to thank JoJo for the comment she left about how attractive he looked on the hood of the car. P5 does not have access to my blog, however, I did tell him about the comment. He stated it made him feel good about himself (He's 38 and is getting insecure about his age, thinking he's too old. He really isn't old and I'm trying to convince him of that... Plus, he IS attractive)

*blushing* I can't believe you told him what I said!! Too funny!
I cannot WAIT to hear about your paranormal hunt tonite!!! I LOVE that stuff!!!
And congratulations for making it thru your training too. You are gonna kick ass. Just take your time with each task and you'll do excellent. Pretty soon you'll just do it by rote. Question though, how will you work your classes once you are on the midnight shift? I mean, you gotta sleep sometime!
right now im taking my classes online so, i can do my school work whenever. otherwise i just plan the classes to work with my schedule. if i stay on mids for awhile, maybe i'll take a class first thing in the morning (like an 8am class). unless i have to be on campus (like for my biology class, or a class similar to that) i'll probably continue doing it online.
you rock girl!!
Brilliant! On line classes! I didn't even think of that. It's perfect for someone who needs a flexible class schedule.
I cannot WAIT to hear about last night!
